When the 17 Win Super Magnum rimfire load was under development, savage accepted the challenge of designing an entirely new rimefire rifle from the ground up. The savage B.MAG isnt simply a re-chambered version of an existing platform; it's a whole new class of rimefire rifle. 

The high velocities of these new loads led us to design features into this rimfire that are typically reserved for our centrefire rifles. In order to maximize accuracy in this long-range shooter, we have utilized our unique thread-in barrel headspacing system, rear-locking lugs and a cock-on-close-bolt. Of course, we would never dream of engineering an accuracy machine like B.MAG without capping it off with our legendary, light, crisp Accutrigger.
